On Tuesday, Ted turned 80 and a bunch of us headed to the Hitchcock House to celebrate. Friend of the family Bruce hosted the party at his lovely farmhouse, and the family banded together to make lots of great food. The party began in the afternoon and went well into the evening, full of mingling and laughter.
This post is also going to acknowledge the passing of the birthday – Happy Birthday, Ted! – as well as the updating of the photo gallery. A little taste of the pictures is below, but you can see the rest by clicking here.

Last weekend, Lindsay and I and a number of friends headed to Pennsylvania to go camping. We spent the weekend hiking, rafting and sleeping in tents. All went very well, though it did rain the second night – pouring nearly all night, which kept most of us up but was still fun. We ended the weekend with a birthday dinner celebration back at home for Lindsay’s birthday.
So this post also serves as Lindsay’s Happy Birthday post!
It also serves as a way to say that the photo gallery has been updated with pictures from the trip. You will get a little taste of them below, but if you would like to see the whole album, click here (and, as usual, the entire photo gallery may be accessed by the links on the left and right sidebars).

Pictures from New Year’s Eve are now in the photo gallery! Enjoy looking at the makings of a new family tradition – getting dressed up, cooking our own lobsters, having lots of champagne and other appetizers and playing a Murder Mystery game (even if we DID play it wrong!).

In trying to keep up with the family website before the new year arrives in just twelve hours, I thought I would take the time to get the photo gallery updated, and ready for the 2010 pictures (when the events begin pouring in, that is!). In any case, pictures from Christmas Eve and Fake Christmas can now be found in the photo gallery:

Last weekend I headed down to Lexington, South Carolina for my third FIRM Believer’s Trip. Though most people can sympathize with me, or are proud of me when they consider how much weight I lost, I know that there are only a select group of people who truly understand what it is to be a FIRM Believer! I love spending time with them, and it’s very rejuvenating to spend a few days just challenging my body and learning new things about exercise and nutrition. I always come away from these trips with a renewed spirit and motivation to do well. This year’s trip was no different, except that it was longer and harder! I came away from it with a binder for the next 8 weeks of eating and exercising. Week one has gone quite well – only seven to go.
The photo gallery has been updated with photos from the trip. Click here to see them. You can also check out the highlights below:

A few weekends ago, I had the opportunity to see Washington D.C. for the very first time. I drove down with four of my friends and we walked all over the city, seeing many museums and historical sites. We stopped in at the Holocaust Memorial Museum, a very somber place (though marred by the insane crowd that was in there, making it difficult to experience everything), and went to parts of the Smithsonian (the Museum of American History and the Air and Space Museum, specifically). We also visited the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam War Memorial and the, of course, the White House (though it was covered by a tent for some sort of even – we did get to see the snipers on the roof though!).
I will have to go back very soon in order to visit more museums and see the Capitol (which was closed, or so we thought, due to the National Equality March going on the same weekend we were there).
The photo gallery has been updated, and the pictures can be found here. All photo gallery albums may be linked using the links to the left or the right. Here are some highlights:
