It’s been nice cold and snowy here for quite some time, and it got me remembering our summer fun!  I’m also headed with a bunch of friends to Medieval Times tomorrow, which brought the Disney World road trip back into the front of my mind!

I know we’ve had posts about this when it was happening, but just for fun, reminiscing purposes, here are some of my favorites from the Disney World road trip!

We’re all very excited around here because the new Harry Potter World will soon be opening up at Universal Studios!  That might just mean another summer road trip this August!  We shall see…

Here’s what I was doing last year around this time:

Stuck in the schoolyard helping my friend Jackie try to get her keys out of her locked, turned-on car! It was quite the adventure and a slightly depressing Valentine’s Day turned into one that will be hard to top!

It really was quite the afternoon. We had the janitor trying to pry open Jackie’s window with a hanger, the rest of us helping to push the staff’s cars out of the snow (and falling in the process!), and a whole score of both helpful and not-so-helpful people!

I can’t believe I almost forgot to post this! I’ve had a really busy week, apparantly!

This famous family picture was taken during a trip to Kevin and Lori’s house. We filmed one of our famous musicals in the basement, using bags of old clothes. Kara and Emily located these teal pants that apparantly my dad gave to Jordan and which Jordan used to wear in the snow (this was confirmed the next day when we were watching home movies). Anyway, as we were cleaning up all the clothes, I thought I heard Kara say something like, “Let’s make a fat man dummy and leave it on Jordan’s bed.” When I mentioned it, everyone liked the idea and we proceeded to create this new person on Jordan’s bed.

When Jordan came home with his girlfriend at the time, they headed into his room while we waited for the reaction. We later heard that Suzy had jumped at the sight of it, and Jordan admitted that he had thought it was his dad, as the shirt we used was Kevin’s “lawn mowing shirt.”

Last night, Katherine, Joe and I were flipping the channels looking for something to watch after discovering nothing good on the HDTV channels. Finally, we took a look at the movie channels, where one was labeled “Sesame Street.” Joe put it on and we all got excited right away, for we all immediately recognized the movie as Follow that Bird, a childhood favorite! So, of course we had to watch it because it just so happened to be our favorite part.

I found a video of said favorite part – when Big Bird stops on the farm and meets Ruthie and Floyd and helps out with the chores, and they all sing “Easy Goin’” – it took me back to the days when we would play Follow that Bird and I would play Ruthie, Joe would play Floyd and that left Lindsay to play – you guessed it! – Big Bird!

We spent the rest of the evening quoting the rest of the movie as it continued. The best part was Pam and Mom in the dining room/kitchen, singing all the words, remembering everything from when we used to watch it – including the key change at the end of “Easy Goin’”!

P.S. I mentioned the Sesame Street quiz I took a while back to Joe and how I ended up as Bert – he wanted to take it so I shared the link, and he’s Bert too! Apparantly we are just not a cool bunch. (Though when Emily took the quiz a couple weeks ago, she was Big Bird.)
